Week 9

1) I tried all the overlay methods just for grins. However, I found that the "intersect" method returned the same results as the "union" method, without having to select where the water buffer and the road buffer both equaled "1" and exporting the results to a new shapefile.

2) I used the "erase" overlay to remove areas that were inside the conservation areas.

3) There were a total of 79 features, with the largest being : 7,765,034.49356 sq. meters and the smallest being: 748.114463 sq. meters.

Spring Break

Not too much trouble with this lab. Kind of reminded me of Lab 5, but without the stress!!

Lab 7: Data Editing

No real issues with this lab. I just would have liked it to look a little neater, especially the athletic fields.

Lab 6: Georeferencing Rasters

Not many problems in completing this lab. I don't like the line in between the two maps, but I'm not too sure how to get rid of it, other than try to be more precise with my georeferencing.

Lab 5: Data Search

Very, very difficult and time consuming lab. Very long load times working with Arc. I'd estimate that almost 3/4 of the time was spent on waiting for things to load/process. Just glad to be done!

Participation Post: Haiti

I'm leaving a link here to a interactive map I found on USA Today.

Pretty interesting, you can click on and off many of the subjects we have been discussing in the participation post.

Lab 4: Map Projections

I was never able to figure out how to make a table to display the county/area info, so I just ended up manually typing it in for each projection. Otherwise, I think the lab went ok.
